The papery blooms of strawflowers, which are native to Australia, can endure high heat and dry conditions. Profuse bloomers for fresh or dried arrangements. Strawflowers are one of the most popular flowers for drying, and once dried last seemingly forever. Tall, well-branched plants produce dark wine (almost black) flowers. Fully open blooms reveal contrasting fiery-orange center.

| Sowing Tips |
Sow indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost, or direct sow in spring after frost danger has passed. Surface sow and press in gently – light aids germination. Transplant when seedlings are 5–8cm tall and well-rooted. Avoid overwatering during germination. |
