Poppy - Iceland Springsong
Poppy - Iceland Springsong
Iceland Springsong poppies are by far my favourite spring flower. They come in the most amazing array of subtle and feminine colours. They are prolific bloomers with good stems that have the most amazing hard shell that opens up to a crepe like bloom. A must have in any cutting garden. Succession sow for a longer season.
Approx 100 seeds per packet
Seed Sowing Info
Days to Germination - 7 -12 days
Days to Maturity - 85 - 100 days
Sowing -Transplant (recommended) - Sow 6-8 weeks before transplanting out. Cover seeds very lightly, top with vermiculite. Bottom water or mist to avoid covering the seed with displaced soil. Direct seed - Sow in early spring when soil is cool and a light frost is still possible, or late autumn. Surface-sow and keep soil evenly moist until seedlings emerge. Pinching plants is not necessary nor beneficial. Iceland poppies perform best in cooler conditions. Bloom production and quality declines as temperatures rise.
